I am a child of God, and families are forever

I am grateful to have the knowledge that I am a child of God. I talked about this in a Facebook post several months ago. There is a song with the same title as my post today, and I used to think it was just a kid's song (it is in our Children's songbook), but the older I get, the more I realize it has far more relevance than that. "I am a child of God, and He has sent me here, has given me an earthly home, with parents kind and dear. So lead me, guide me, walk beside me, help me find the way, teach me all that I must do, to live with Him someday." We truly do need God to walk with us if we ever hope to return to Him someday. As someone who is terribly imperfect, I can testify that when I feel the influence of the Spirit, I am far more likely to choose the right.
There is another childhood hymn that I have always loved, and as I grow, I continue to love. It is called "Families can be together forever". When I was younger, I always thought of it in terms of my mother, father, and sisters. I still believe that is true, but I also realize that it now includes my wonderful wife, Kimberly. I love the fact that we can be together forever, that it is Heavenly Father's plan that we are. As it says in the song, "I always want to be with my own family; and The Lord has shown me how I can.." I often will replace "own family" with "dear Kimberly"

I testify that you can live with your loved ones forever, as well as with God, for you truly are His son or daughter. I say this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
